Oversight Compliance Descriptions

Use the relevant text below to describe DAP's oversight compliance in your manuscript.

For papers using only survey data: The University of Washington IRB deemed that recruitment of dog owners for the Dog Aging Project, and the administration and content of the DAP Health and Life Experience Survey (HLES), are human subjects research that qualifies for Category 2 exempt status (IRB ID no. 5988, effective 10/30/2018). No interactions between researchers and privately owned dogs occurred; therefore, IACUC oversight was not required.

For papers using survey data and physical data of any kind for pilots, Foundation, and/or Precision: The University of Washington IRB deemed that recruitment of dog owners for the Dog Aging Project, and the administration and content of the DAP Health and Life Experience Survey (HLES), are human subjects research that qualifies for Category 2 exempt status (IRB ID no. 5988, effective 10/30/2018). All study-related procedures involving privately owned dogs were approved by the Texas A&M University IACUC, under AUP 2021-0316 CAM (effective 12/14/2021).

For papers using only survey data and physical data of any kind for TRIAD: The University of Washington IRB deemed that recruitment of dog owners for the Dog Aging Project, and the administration and content of the DAP Health and Life Experience Survey (HLES), are human subjects research that qualifies for Category 2 exempt status (IRB ID no. 5988, effective 10/30/2018). All study-related procedures involving privately owned dogs were approved by the Texas A&M University IACUC, under AUP 2021-0317 CAM (effective 12/8/2021). The Texas A&M University IRB determined that TRIAD is not Human Subjects Research (STUDY2024-1437, 11/15/24).

For papers that include dogs from more than one cohort, including TRIAD: The University of Washington IRB deemed that recruitment of dog owners for the Dog Aging Project, and the administration and content of the DAP Health and Life Experience Survey (HLES), are human subjects research that qualifies for Category 2 exempt status (IRB ID no. 5988, effective 10/30/2018).   All study-related procedures involving privately owned dogs were approved by the Texas A&M University IACUC, under AUP 2021-0316 CAM (effective 12/14/2021) and AUP 2021-0317 CAM (effective 12/8/2021). The Texas A&M University IRB determined that TRIAD is not Human Subjects Research (STUDY2024-1437, 11/15/24).
